The art of finding the typo, the punctuation issue, the Grammar slip - and removing it.

There are two well-loved newspapers which are occasionally referred to as the Grauniad and the Survey Murror. Each of them was unfortunate enough to go through a (long) period of life during which their error checking routines were so slipshod that people joked that one day their block front page title would be misspelt. We aim to aviod this for you (did you notice that typo? We did!)

Good proofreading is a job either done fast or well. No human can assimilate text and mentally check for errors for too long an unbroken period, especially in texts whose appeal is, let us say, to a limited or erudite audience. Likewise we cannot guarantee absolutely that we will get every single one of the errors that creep in to every piece of text. After all, if it were easy the author of the piece would have found them.

Judy - and it's her speciality - does her absolute best, and it's a good best too.

Charges are £3 per A4 page with a standard minimum charge of £20. We can accept typed or electronically produced documents in most formats.

Extras are charged at cost, such as -

Retyping large chunks (half an A4 sheet or more) £10 for the first A4 sheet or part, then £5 per sheet or part. (Normal minor corrections are noted or corrected as part of the proofing progress and are included in the normal fee.)
Photocopying £0.04 per sheet up to 20 copies. Over that by negotiation.
Phone calls £0.05 each subject to length (UK), overseas by negotiation.
Postage Dependent on weight and speed of delivery required.
